Communicate Clearly When the Conversation Counts

Have you ever walked away from a conversation thinking, well, that's absolutely not what I meant?

And naturally, the clearest, most articulate version of what you should've said arrives eleven minutes later while you're driving home. Suddenly you're concise. Brilliant, even. Apparently all you needed was a steering wheel, zero witnesses, and no opportunity whatsoever to use the sentence. 😅

I've given entire TED Talks to my dashboard.

A woman tells her husband the guest room "just needs one small tweak" before the in-laws visit. She means a different lamp. He hears full renovation.

At 2am, she wakes up to the sound of a paint roller and finds him repainting the entire room, furniture shoved into the hallway, fully committed to the mission.

She said tweak. He heard emergency.

When the Stakes Go Up

Now stack pressure on top of that, a pitch, a client call, the one conversation that could actually change your year, and the version of you who had it all figured out five minutes ago quietly excuses herself. What shows up instead talks faster, over-explains, or barely says anything at all.

And here's the sneaky part: most of us don't notice the pattern while we're in it. We notice it later, when the conversation is over and our brain has apparently decided now would be an excellent time to become articulate. 🙄

That's part of what makes communication so fascinating to me. What we mean, what we say, and what the other person actually hears can be three entirely different things.

First, See the Pattern

And that's exactly why I created What If It Were Easier to Understand Each Other?

It's a private DISC Behavioral Assessment + Insight Session where we look at how you naturally communicate, what the person on the other side may be experiencing, and why something that sounded crystal clear in your head can somehow come out sounding like an entirely different message.

Because knowing what you mean and communicating it clearly to another person are two different skills.

And sometimes, seeing the pattern is only step one.

Because once you know, "ohhh...THAT'S what I do," the next question is usually some version of, "Okay, great. Now how do I stop doing that every time the pressure goes up?"

Then, Build the Skill

That's where Unlock Your Speaker Impact comes in.

We work on the actual communication skills that make those moments easier to handle: organizing your thoughts when your brain decides to scatter them like confetti, using your voice and body more intentionally, answering unexpected questions without mentally leaving the building, connecting with the person or room in front of you, and saying what you mean without taking the scenic route to get there.

In other words, understanding how you communicate is incredibly useful.

Learning how to communicate more clearly when the conversation actually counts? That's where the practice begins.

Because knowing what you mean, understanding how other people may be experiencing you, and actually saying it clearly when the moment matters are three different skills.

The good news? They're all skills. Which means they can all be developed.
